Skied south facing couloir west of Arethusa summit. 10-15cm new snow from yesterday afternoon from road to upper alpine, somewhat bonded to firm layer below (10cm thick). New snow was powder and not a cohesive slab. Below the firm layer felt powdery or facets but didn't inspect closely. The thick layer was supportive allowing us to easily bookpack steep terrain. Alpine is still thinly covered and impossible not to hit a rock here and there, but there are good spots. In deeper spots snow was 75cm deep. Morning was calm and sunny, around 1pm clouds appeared and winds began to howl, probably ruining much of the new snow that had fallen up high. A few good turns were had with careful terrain selection.
