FEW clouds with light SW winds where I traveled today. Temps were right around freezing. No new snow in the last 24hrs.
Snowpack
I traveled on east and southeast aspects below and near treeline. Below treeline, the snow depth on east aspects ranged from 30-45cm and the snow was faceted to the ground. Southeast aspects below treeline had a snow depth of around 30cm and consisted of last week's storm snow over a couple of 5cm melt-freeze crusts with about 5cm of facets in between. This all sits on 10cm or so of facets on the ground. Near treeline on an east-southeast aspect I found last week's storm snow on a thin melt-freeze crust over old surface hoar and facets. This layer sits on top of another melt-freeze crust. I had propagating ECT results on this layer. This structure was present everywhere that the wind had not eroded into the snowpack.
