Clear skies and warm temperatures, no wind to speak of until the exposed ridgeline above the bowl and even then winds were light.
Snowpack
About 40 centimeters of new snow fell with yesterdays storm. Unfortunately this fell on a widespread layer of surface facets that has proven to be quite sensitive today. On a similar slope(northeast, near treeline)as the unintentional skier triggered D2 in Highland Bowl a few hours earlier, Extended Column Tests produced easy, propagating results on the third tap from the wrist, ECTP3. Shooting cracks down to the buried surface facet layer could be seen on test slopes.
Avalanche
Multiple storm slab avalanches on easterly-facing slopes near and below treeline near Seivers and south Seivers. A D1.5 skier triggered avalanche was also seen in photos taken from Mountain Rescue Aspen on a north-facing slope near treeline.
