Snowy, cold, and windy at times. There were periods of calmer weather with the sun trying to poke through making it feel much warmer.
Snowpack
Northwest 10,700 to 11,000 feet- the snowpack was 230 cm deep. We got results of ECTN underneath the new snow and at the faceted layer buried on March 3rd, 55 cm from the surface. South-facing 11,800 feet- the snowpack was 230 cm deep. This is the deepest snowpack I have seen on a southerly facing slope in the Northern Mountains this year. The new snow sits on a firm melt-freeze crust. There are thick and firm crusts underneath the upper most crust as well. No instabilities were observed in the storm snow. East-southeast 11300 ft- the snowpack was over 2 meter deep. 25 cm of new snow over a crust that is 1 cm thick. There is very weak snow beneath the crust but we found perc columns running through the facets below the crust. Maybe with a much bigger load, this would be something to worry about but not with the current snowpack situation.
