Shames Backcountry Activity

Rapid warming Sunday afternoon resulted in widespread activity in the shames backcountry area. Activity varied from small wet sluffing to large slab releases that stepped down multiple layers. All observations and photos are from within the MMC Shames Mountain ski area boundary.

Multiple slabs from Hourglass to Fish Bowl up to s3.5. Blue boy stepped down multiple layers. Size 1-2 point releases in Geronimo, Thunder and Super Bowl. Additional activity observed up to size 3 slab off of south aspects East Ridge and Cornice Ridge; west aspect above Avtech Lake and above Shames Mtn Rd; sluffing and point releases on multiple faces in Happy Valley and Valley of Certain Doom.
