Westerly aspects near treeline has the MLK storm snow (8-16") on a crust facet crust sandwhich, with facets on the ground. Average HS is 80-100 cm. This morning the rime crust was still widespread with yesterday's 2" bonded pretty well. No cracking today near trreline and a few moderate to large collapses near the bottom of the slopes. Ski pen near treeline this morning was minimal 3-6 inches due to rime crust, and or totally supportive on a wind / rime combo crust in exposed areas. The most suspect areas today were Steep (>35) West aspects below treeline in sheltered, shaded areas where we got cracking and a few small (R2/D1) slides where the storm snow was sliding on thin crusts or facets. Ski pen below treeline in shaded areas was 50-70 cm with very little to no support. Sun exposed slopes had a somewhat supportive crusts and were not reactive. These will be the most reactive areas tomorrow. We could see slides tepping down through the crusts to basal facets if we get the forecasted snow and water, and wind!
