Weather

Clear skies with a few clouds in the afternoon. Temps were HOT at the trailhead at 11k, didn't measure though. Winds were light from the W in lower Senator Beck Basin.

Snowpack

At the trailhead at 1300h, boot pen was 30-40cm of wet uncohesive snow. We dug test profiles in a shady, flat meadow near the Swamp Angel plot. We found a few weak layers in the upper 60cm. Both were ~5cm thick layers of rounding facets, which showed sudden planar results with moderate force in compression tests but did not propagate in an ECT. See attached snow profile.

Avalanche

A few recent loose wet avalanches on steep southerly aspects. None appeared to have ran today.
