1:40pm, Nov. 28, '10. 11,480ft., n.e. aspect near Gunnison/Chaffe cty. line west of us 50. Very unusual pit profile in that many prominent layers were apparent but they had virtually no diffference in hardness. Total height of snow was 60cm. Surface facets were very obvious on the surface and the top 10 cm was unconsolidated snow even though there had been no new snow and some wind the previous two days. Buried surface facets at 5o cm., buried surface hoar at 40 cm., depth hoar layer 22-25 cm. and depth hoar from ground to 5cm. All layers fist or slightly harder for entire depth of snow. No crusts, wind affected or other hard layers. Failure at 40 cm on buried sh layer, ct 11.=
