Snowpack

Southerly aspects below treeline: surface was variable sun crust, thickest on slopes >25 degrees and nonexistent in tree shadows. Shallow, faceted snowpack. Old October crust present in shaded areas only.

Near and above treeline: lots of hard slabs and wind pummeled snow. P to K hard old layer exposed in places, drifted over with softer snow in others.
