Toured from Red Lady Trailhead to Elk Creek and back down Red Lady Glades. Winds east of Gunsight Pass came out of E/NE were less than 15 mph and most prevalent at low points along ridgeline (Gunsight Pass). West of Gunsight pass, winds were from W/NW. Towards the afternoon, we experienced some 25 mph gusts from W/NW. Skies were clear and sunny with the exception at the end of the tour (2PM) when low clouds from the west came in
Snowpack
Wind slabs up to 4 inches were found along various parts of the tour. On a wind scoured slope on the east ridge of Elk Creek, two of us caused a big whump on a 4 inch wind slab sitting on top of faceted grains. We were on a slope less than 25 degrees with shallow snowpack.
