Conditions report

Location
Duffey Lake Road

Skies were clear on the Duffey early this morning and the cloud moved in mid morning creating a greenhouse effect. Temperatures jumped 2 degrees an hour between 10 and noon to a high of almost 6 degrees by one o'clock at 1900m. As a result, all surface faceting, surface hoar and any previously good skiing on aspects and features that hadn't been affected by the sun are now all gone. The snow was glopping to both skins and waxed ski bases and the skiing was 'resistant '. We observed pinwheeling and loose wet avalanches to size 2, primarily on steep polar aspects. Solar aspects had the surface crust breaking down and getting moist but with no activity.
