White Pass East- the Y

Another calm sunny day, covered lots of ground with great visibility with no avalanches to report. We approached white pass east from the highway by crossing the summit lakes and that access is still easy and fully snow covered. We explored thru the Big Y sightseeing and snowboarding and riding steep slopes with no issues with stability. Snow as usual was not quite as deep in the East as in the West side of the pass but the top of the glaciers and the protected side valleys are holding really good snow from the last week. Tracks from plenty of sled traffic thru here over the weekend, lots of slope testing high into start zones- with nothing triggered. Some snowballing on steep south faces out of rocky terrain, no slab avalanche activity. A bit of high cloud rolled in off the coast late afternoon, otherwise it was a fair weather kind of weekend!
