CTH 22 sudden plainer on a surface hoar down 105cm did come off of a 35deg test pit on a ENE (east north east) aspect at 2000m on a convex roll. This was seen as a significant result and kept us away from larger more open slopes of similar shape. The crew was surprised by this and felt like today was a day to look for well supported slopes to play on away from terrain traps. The surface hoar was fairly large in size but also varied in size from one side of the pit to the other where a large tree near by may have been preserving or protecting the surface hoar when it had formed in early December.
