While there is still bony patches, the snow is starting to pile up at Round Top. With enough snow to ride comes enough snow to slide. Recent winds from the northeast had stripped back the usual spots for wind deposits and cornices, leaving fresh and reactive slabs on westerly slopes. The Nov21 layer of facets (loose, sugary crystals) is down 30-50cm in this area. We are keeping a close eye on this persistent layer as it will be slow to heal. Poor visibility kept us from exploring the alpine but we found the best riding was in sheltered tree line areas on west slopes away from the effects of the wind.
