Sunny bluebird day - the 140 cm snowpack was generally supportive and provided some good skiing on low angle slopes in Simpson Bowl. At, and below treeline, the snowpack is entirely faceted. There was ample evidence of natural avalanche activity above treeline on east facing slopes from last week's storm (see photo). In the bowl we found 40-50 cm of firm wind slab (one finger to pencil) over a weaker, faceted mid pack. Shovel tests generated moderate to hard planar results (CT 17 & 20).
