Snow felt soft and wet consolidated, no crust observed in bowl. Cornices loomed large overhead on N aspects. Sunday morning, 5-10cm fresh snow in trees and 20+cm in alpine. Skied open trees SW of lake. Great skiing in mellow terrain. Witnessed a size 2 avy from chute at S end of lake.
Avalanche
Skiing gladed run on SW corner of Darkside lake. Conditions were overcast to lightly snowing. Heard a natural avy run on far side of lake, likely S or E side of lake, at around 9:45. About 10 mins later, as we approached the lake, we witnessed a size 2 natural avy run from one of the chutes south of the lake, at approx. 200-300 m from us. Could not see start zone due to vis, but avy started in chute and terminated in low angle terrain above lake.
