We took our skis for a walk up the Illecillewaet drainage, around 12:30pm right before our eyes we watched both of the avalanche paths above the Practice Slopes rip wet slab avalanches beginning near tree line and running nearly their full runout close to the valley bottom. The looker’s right path slid first, followed by the looker’s left path a minute or two later. They appeared to have triggered naturally as we did not notice any skiers or recent tracks on the slope. The crowns of both avalanches were visible afterwards. It was HOT out there in the sun! We also observed evidence of recent wet slides on northerly aspects on the opposite side of the valley as well.
