Emerald Peak – Feb 17 2024. Beautiful day on Emerald Peak. -21 at the car, inversion in full effect it was -2c just below the summit at 10:15am. 10-15cm of powder atop concrete. Less coverage than usual for this time of year is the theme. No signs of instabilities noted. A wet slide from this week ran from rocks in the alpine onto the slide path and didn’t step down. Ski quality was a mix of good and great. Of note, we had wet heavy snow just under the summit at 10:30 AM for about 200m until lower down, the inversion was strong. Didn’t venture up the final 50m to the summit due to rapid warming and shallow snow. Fantastic weather, felt like late March. Calm wind all day. Pack your sunscreen!
