Elevation: 2350 m Aspect: W Slope Angle: ~30° Weather: Cloudy, very light winds, approx. –5 °C at the trailhead. Light overnight snowfall observed. A sun crust was noted below recent snow at lower elevations (~1800–2000 m). Snowpack: Total depth ~130 cm. A compression test produced a shallow failure in the top ~10 cm of loose recent snow at CT3. An ECTP22 resulted in a sudden planar failure ~100 cm down (~30 cm above ground) on faceted snow above a crust, with propagation across the full column.
