Compression test on south east aspect resulted on easy 3 on meltfreeze surface hoar combo. The snowpack was as chatty as I usually am, and gave me a lot of minor scares. It was my first day out this year, and I assume that the conditions will get very touchy for a while when the days will get warmer . We only tested south slopes- I am very curious how the north slopes are developing- as was I have seen yesterday/ I will be very conservative on my spring skiing, I am no avalanche expert and don't know how problems like that recover - but for me it was an eye opening day on the severity of the PWL.
