Got an early start for a non existent sunrise. Drainage line up didn’t have great coverage with a fair bit of brush and trees poking through. Stayed well below tree line notice as we moved east to south on the skin track the snow changed a fair bit - less cohesive and a lot more whomfing and cracking the further south (not sure if this was aspect of less tight trees related?) Noticed on all both East and south east sides whoomfing/cracking when setting a skin track. Not down to a smooth layer but to a layer of faceted snow. Snow would crack and break off in large blocks. Fairly okay snow coverage in the trees. Riding was ok, snow was heavy on the first 30cm then sugar for the rest, made for some variable riding. Avoided the drainage line for the ski out and stayed high skiers right to drop in to save the bottoms of our skies.
