We went for a sled mission up the Wheaton Valley to check on conditions after the big warm-up on Sunday and Monday. As expected, we did find pretty crusty conditions below 1300m. At about 1200m the crust thins and riding quality is still pretty good in sheltered areas above that. There was evidence of a widespread avalanche cycle to size 2.5 at both treeline and alpine elevations. The wind was strong from the southwest in the alpine and still transporting snow at ridge top. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised to find dry snow above 1300m.
