Multi Day storm. Butte Snotel had accumulated 2.1" of snow water equivalent by the time of the avalanche, Schofield Pass Snotel accumulated 4.5". Near the time of the avalanche, CBMR ski area winds averaged 20mph, gusting to 40mph from the southwest.

Last time it did this was March 03 1978.
