Soft snow

Aaron Beardmore and I attempted the north east ridge of Mt Bryce on July 16th and 17th. We turned around just shy of the first summit due to snowy conditions and warm temperatures. ‎The route needs another week or two of warm temps followed by some colder temperatures to come into shape.

We approached via the Bush river logging road and Rice brook. The road is in good shape until a washout which is close to the end of where it is driveable ‎anyways. Rice brook is easily crossed (knee deep) and the deactivated logging road is much appreciated to minimize the bushwhack.

We camped at the standard bivy spot at 2800 m on the east col of Bryce, overlooking the Icefields. Beautiful spot to camp and a wild remote side of the mountain!
