Weather

Sun with sparkle snow. Light winds at low elevations. Stronger up high.

Snowpack

Digging on an east aspect @~11,500 I observed just over 150cms of snow. The mid-pack is stiffening, but this area is not as deep as places I have been digging higher up on the pass. Extended column tests did not produce propagating results and boot pen was only 40cms. The mid-pack is stiffening and the new snow is "right-side up" above the February 2nd interface. Large grain facets and depth hoar lurk near the ground, but in this area were over a meter from the surface. Lower down in elevations the snowpack felt a bit more hollow and was definitely shallower.

Avalanche

Large natural avalanche on north aspect of "North Anvil" the peak between Ohio and Anvil.
