Weather

30 degrees. partly cloudy.

Snowpack

15cm facets, 40 cm of 4 finger slab, with ~10 cm of new snow. Below treeline, NW aspect, 11,100 feet

Avalanche

Skier 1 triggered the avalanche while traversing across a part of the slope where the aspect changed from north to northwest. Skier 1 was at the top of the slab (about 6 feet from the crown) and was carried downhill about 10 feet. Skier 1 came to rest on top of the snow with his legs buried. The slide was small, slow moving, and generally harmless. If the slide was triggered from the creek bottom, it might have had a different outcome due to volume of snow.
