Temperatures remained cold with a northerly wind blowing steadily up the valley during the trip. Visibility was poor, unable to see ridgetops for snow transport. Light snow (S1) fell consistently
Snowpack
10" of new snow had accumulated by noon along the Maroon Creek road at around 9000 feet. South and west-facing slopes below treeline hold about 65 cm of total snow. Isolated shooting cracks initiating on a crust under the recent snow, but not breaking deep to the ground.
Avalanche
Visibility was very poor. Confirmed with The Highlands ski patrol a natural D2 avalanche in Maroon Bowl from late last week. Green Trees
