Sunny and springlike, light winds off the ridges, with mid day cottony clouds providing occasional cool shade. Hot!
Snowpack
Firm surface crusts in the morning BTL. The freeze up high was less solid, but still supportable. N aspects ATL still had cold snow, but any hint of NE ATL was thicker and tackier by mid morning. Exiting through lower elevations was a hot mess of warm/wet and cold/dry snow, and protected BTL northerlies still harbor dry snow in places, or wet on the surface with dry snow below. A lot of wet activity on all but the highest Northerlies today. Near treeline E aspect had wet snow in the top 30cm by mid morning.
Avalanche
A handful of wet slabs, interestingly all were below prominent rock bands. Hayden Mountain Fall creek- NW aspect BTL WS-N-R2-D1.5 appeared about a meter deep and likely ran on the afternoon of 4/1. On Brown Mountain by Grey Copper Gl, a wet slab appeared to have been triggered by a wet loose from above and then propagated under the rock band- W aspect NTL WS-N-R1-D1.5. Below Senator Beck on a SE aspect NTL WS-N-R1-D1.5 In the Sneffels range, on Stoney Mtn two very small wet slabs E aspect NTL WS-N-R1-D1
