Northeast, east, and southeast aspects near and above treeline: Numerous small loose-snow avalanches on all aspects above treeline in the new snow. One south-facing cornice starting spitting roller balls with just 15 minutes of sun. Today's northerly winds were drifting moderate amounts of snow today. Resultings drifts were still soft (4F) and not brittle. Previous winds had moved the 3/14-3/15 snow around quite a bit more. The dusty layer was visible between dunes along the ridgeline. The dusty layer was obvious in profiles, and felt more chalky than surrounding snow. East-facing avalanches paths were obviously loaded, and one ran during or after the storm in a shallow but wide soft slab. I dug a profile on a slope near the one that avalanched. The near surface facets under the 3/14 snow were easy to identify, but the recent snow had not settled into a slab stiff enough to propagate breaks across large column tests.

Northeast, east, and southeast aspects below treeline: Mid afternoon break in the clouds provided enough sun to rapidly settle the snow surface. The upper 5 to 10 cm quickly became damp. Below about 11,000 feet, all the recent snow was damp or wet and had settled to a layer 20 to 30 cm thick.
