We got lucky and managed to hit the zone before the warm and wind came in. 10 - 15cm’s of new snow on top of last weekends storm. We started small, on various test slopes before working into more committing terrain. Experienced whumps on the lake, and one at the false summit where the snowpack was extremely thin. This prompted a quick test profile in a TL alpine feature. The results can be found in the observation tab. The riding Saturday allowed for checking a few zones off the bucket list since the warming trend and sun never materialized. The high for the day was 0 in the ALP @ 1920m, and 4 down out 1100m.

After observing a few whumpfs down on the lake (likely a result of ice layers settling) and one report of a whumpfs on the false summit in the thin snowpack we decided to do some investigating. We had previous did two ski cuts on convex loaded rolls of similar aspect with no results. But…we did know the potential for surprises was there with the rain/melt layer 40 - 90 cm’s down. The quick test gave an easy result on the storm layer as expected. What was most notable was a faint collapse in the high medium phase, then a dual layer fail both Sudden on hard 2. The results are below: CTE1 down 15cm on PP Break CTM8 collapse but no visible failure in the 80cm column CTH2 down 30cm on facets Sudden Planar CTH2 down 60 on facets (above melt layer) Sudden Planar
