Great start to the winter season, but I'll take much more precipitation please! With a 90cm base at 2075m, and 65cm base at 2300m there are lots of hazards to avoid such as rocks, open creeks and dead fall. In all, quite impressed with early season conditions! The goods were between 1800m-2000m in sheltered areas. Anything above or in the wide open was very wind affected, scoured or boney from my guess was Monday's westerly winds. Little surface hoar (1mm and less) was starting to be formed on the surface at all elevations travelled. Although the clouds were inverted and laid low at about 1000m, the air temp up top was still cold below freezing level. The snowpack was reasonably supported with a right side up snowpack. The base is bottomless with a foot pen of about 70cm unless you find an air pocket around a tree then you're going straight to your crotch! Temps stayed cold below freezing level throughout all elevations travelled.
