First Day of an AST-1 course. Good news/bad news: the riding was half decent but, unfortunately, there's up to 20mm surface hoar buried down 27cm, which lays on top of a crust. Uncertain about presence of the weak layer at higher elevations.

Trace in afternoon buried up to 5mm SH/FC. Wind effect present at ridge top and open features TL/BTL. ECTP 4 down 27 on SH 20mm Nov 18. It lays on 1-2cm crust. Bottom of snowpack is mostly sugary facets (1-2mm)

Couple small avalanches observed at Catch Basin and just below Hummer A chute (possibly hummer B as well, but hard to tell in the flat light from afar).
