Snowing heavily at Bear Lake parking lot and above. 3 inches in the parking lot, 4-5 by the time we were at the base of the SE facing couloir at around 11,000ft.
Avalanche
New snow was failing to bond to old snow. Seemed stable lower down - no sloughs - but as soon as we entered the steeper part of the couloir, I triggered a sizeable slide, 2-3 inch crown. While we bailed, small releases occurred from the surrounding area. A minute or so later a much larger slide released from higher up the couloir. Dragontail Couloir, faces SE, roughly 11,000ft.
