Snowpack

Very mild temperatures and strong solar radiation early in the day at lower elevations. While hiking across a NW slope at treeline found cold dry snow with a surface form a mix of wind crusts and facets. By 11:30 south and east slopes that were holding snow became moist at 12,000 feet--just the top 10 cm on east. Shady north aspects at treeline still had surface facets in sheltered areas and cold dry snow. Surprisingly warm even up high! Southwest winds were light with an occasionally stronger gust throughout morning.I did notice a isolated areas of dust on snow near and above treeline.
