Snowpack
Highway paths were mostly bare ground prior to this storm cycle. Forecasted storm totals may provide enough snowpack to support avalanche flows to the highway. 30" HS at the top of the pass is usually a pretty good indicator that sufficient snowcover exists to support flows to the highway.
