Northern San Juan
AvalancheMark Mueller · May 8, 2016 · Southern San Juan
Weather
Alternating periods of cold temps, moderate winds, and light to moderate snow with mostly sunny skies and very warm temps. T-shirt to down puffies.
Snowpack
Spring conditions with a little new snow on a mostly supportable old snow surface. A little less supportable in the trees. Windy conditions did create some wind drifted pockets, but accumulations were minimal.
Avalanche
Observed recent activity limited to LW out of steep Nerly aspects near and above TL. Several of D2 size. With more new snow falling, would expect more activity of a similar nature on the next sunny day.
