Weather

Heavy snowfall began @ 14:30 w/ perceivable drop in air temp. Average snowfall rates exceeded 2cm/hr well into the night. Set out storm board as soon as I got back to town in CB. From 18:30 to 23:30 saw HIN of 11.5cm or 4.75" w/ 0.4" SWE.

Snowpack

See pit. Of note: Jan 25th wet grains 1cm below the surface. Repeatable sudden planar shears (CTM SC (Q1) x2) on Jan 11th surface hoar 13cm below surface. Despite presence of wet grains, cohesion of new snow, and underlying facets, hand shears and tilt tests showed good bonding at new snow/old snow interface.
