Weather
Clear / few clouds with some periods of scattered. Temps rose to 34F at 10k and 20F at 12k. WSW winds increased from light this morning to moderate this afternoon, with gusts in the 30’s and 40’s. Moderate pluming off of Ruby Range in the afternoon.
Snowpack
No new snow overnight on top of the 8†of snow that fell yesterday. Storm snow moistened and settled through the day on lower elevations E-S-W. High elevations saw enough wind to keep surfaces dry on low angle slopes or westerly aspects, with some minor drifting of snow observed but not loading. New snow was sluffing easily on anything steeper than about 37 or 38 degrees. Some minor propagation as the snow moistened and gained cohesion.
Avalanche
Skier triggered loose snow avalanches on West aspects BTL that ran almost to the flats. (D1’s). Handful of slides around Ruby Range, soft slabs or loose snow on various aspects from yesterday, and a few more wet loose avalanches today, all confined to new snow and small in size.
