Weather

Partly cloudy skies. Strong northwest winds, moderate to intense wind loading. Sun felt intense when it was out.

Snowpack

East and southeast aspects below treeline: No signs of instability. Boot pen was 20-30 cm in most places, with a few pockets of entirely faceted snow. Sun and warm temperatures made the snow surface moist, and it quickly crusted in the shade.

Northeast and east aspects near treeline:New layers of soft, thin layers of wind-drifted snow were touchy, easily sliding off old layers of wind-drifted snow. These were isolated in areas I traveled. I could feel the basal depth hoar everywhere, but the overlying layers are highly variable.
