We skied the north side of Rainbow Mtn and some laps off the east ridge. Everything ALP and TL was heavily wind affected from recent downslope/outflow winds. Hand shears gave easy-mod results down 20 cm in places. The snow was creamy but skied fairly well until around 1500 m when it became a backseat burner in the sticky schmoo. We noticed an accidentally triggered cornice that in turn triggered a shallow slab (20-30 cm deep). The slide ran at least 500 m. Perhaps a size 2.5. Sounds like this probably occurred 24 hrs earlier. It was a warm day with a light overcast sky trapping some heat in. Overall a good day though.
