Recent winds and warm temperatures had us pushing into the alpine to investigate the wind slab distribution. The sun was shining and we had great visibility to get a good look at the surrounding area. We spotted some larger overhanging cornices that we planned to stay well away from. The avalanche conditions are generally safe, small pockets of wind slabs may still be found in isolated areas or extreme terrain. While natural and human triggered avalanches are unlikely in this area we are always on the lookout for unstable snow in isolated terrain features, like rocky outcrops as we start to venture out.
