Snowpack

Little change in stratigraphy with only 6 inches of new snow since the last pit on 12/23. The south winds during the Christmas period stripped the start zones close to ridgetop, and formed a 1F layer of wind broken grains now buried ~10cm below the surface. Yesterdays northeast winds formed a 4cm 1F wind crust at the surface. Both layers failed early in snowpack tests. Below this facets dominate the snowpack with a 20cm layer of October snow/depth hoar. ECTP23 results at 60cm from surface accompanied by slab fracture into the column above.
