Weather
Broken skies in the morning with clouds increasing through the day. Light snow showers with little to no new accumulation. Winds were light, barely noticeable until I reached exposed ridgelines above treeline. Very little wind effect on yesterdays 3-5 inches, with most still available for transport.
Snowpack
Above treeline terrain was ravaged by wind last week. With the exception of yesterdays 3-5 inches, westerlies are mostly bare. Heavy crossloading on northwest slopes but very little continuity in slab coverage until you get into more wind-protected elevations. Fresh, shallow wind slabs on easterly-facing slopes are becoming stubborn to unreactive with warm temperatures this afternoon.Large cornices formed during last weeks wind event. Persistent weak layers of crusts and faceted layers still dominate the upper 50 centimeters of the snowpack but are becoming less sensitive.
