Weather

cloud cover: few; wind loading: none; recent snowfall (cm): 2

Snowpack

Early this morning, east and south aspects had a melt-freeze crust from yesterday.  Northeast and north aspects held about 12" of dry snow near treeline and half of that at lower elevations.   . No signs of instability were noted until ski-cutting a slab avalanche.

Avalanche

Ski cut a soft slab avalanche that failed on the faceted melt-freeze crust just under a foot thick. Given the long running terrain here, this grew to a D2 in size and part of the crown connected into an adjacent path.
