13cm of new snow has fallen with little wind since Tuesday morning. Visibility is still limited so we've been seeking out storm skiing/sledding goodies. In the northern end of the White Pass region where we were today, there was very good riding but as we set our track we encountered many pockets of shallow, facetted snow that offered little support. These were typically in places where the winds had previously scoured the slopes leaving shallow, weak areas. We tried to avoid these areas as much as possible knowing they could be trigger points. We also kept buried wind slabs in the back of our minds and used creative route finding to avoid areas that had the potential to produce high consequence avalanches.
