Weather

Limited visibility for ridgelines, wind data taken from Aspen Highlands. Steady snowfall close to 1 inch per hour fell throughout the trip. Temperatures fell as the morning progressed and the winds began to shift to the north.

Snowpack

The overall depth of the snowpack between 10,500 feet and treeline is 1.5 to 2 meters. About 15 centimeters of new snow (fist-)had fallen on a widespread pencil hard crust which was everywhere except the shadiest slopes. The new snow was cracking about 1 meter in front of my skis on the crust. The early February layer seems to be gaining strength, moderate to hard non-propagating extended column test results.
