Avalanche

Weather

East side of Mt. Machebeuf, 11-12k. Temperatures in single digits and teens, little-to-no wind. Mostly blue sky with a high fog coming in later in the day.

Snowpack

Light, fresh, fluffy snow on top of old storm snow. Occasional whumphs in snowpack, particularly when next to trees and other vegetation.

Avalanche

After skiing our first run, we re-ascended to the same transition point and while climbing observed a fresh avalanche that had released either naturally or as a remote trigger from us. Neither of us saw or heard the avalanche happen. Also observed an older avalanche further up drainage that appeared to have occurred over the weekend. Similar E facing slope and size of avalanche. Could not get into position for a good photo.
