Windy day on Log Cabin but conditions were still fair. A lot of new snow and new snow falling during the day with a very variable snow pack and lots of new wind loading with pockets of powder in between. We intentionally dug the pit on the lee side of a convex feature to see what the wind slab would do and the upper 10 cm of new wind loading was quite reactive but did not show much propagation. We also tried to initiate a small but firmer wind slab on a steeper roll and achieved the same result as the snow pit but no propagation only point release. A lot of the new snow that we observed seemed to be bonding well to the older snow and the only reactivity was the fresh softer wind slab. We did see a significant result on facets on the rain crust at 65cm but we could only find the crust at tree line and in wind protected terrain.
