Burstall Pass -Touchy Conditions

Touchy conditions out there. Travelled almost to Burstall Pass. 0 degrees at trailhead. Minus 7 at the pass. 5cm new snow (overnight 26th/27th) sitting on a slight crust. Then 10-15 cm of denser snow to second crust, then weaker faceted snow. Significant whoomphing at tree line. One of our whoomphs remote triggered a size 1 about 30 metres away on a convex roll over a small cliff. Observed similar releases on other rolls/cliffs where the snowpack was thin. Worth keeping in mind if you are travelling below cliffs or steep terrain where whomps could trigger slopes above. Pretty well followed uptrack on the way out with good snow higher up. Sticky snow low down with 0 degree temps so skin wax was useful.
