Weather

Broken skies, light winds from E and SW. We seemed to be right on the boundary between SW flow trying to push over Longs, while E winds pushed clouds up into the cirque off/on throughout the day. Periods of intense solar above 11K, while consistent cloud cover below. Longs Peak Cirque, N/NE/E aspects up to 13,100 (top of Lambslide) down to trailhead at 9,500

Snowpack

5-20cm of new snow at higher elevations. Melting quickly on any sunny aspects below 12K. Slush below 11K on trail. Verglas/streaks of ice forming on features like the Smear and Crazy Train. Survived the sun. Lots of free water still running. Chasm Lake not at all iced up. Shadier features like Flying Dutchman and Lambslide holding storm snow from this batch (seemed like 4-8") and pools of leftover graupel from last week's (?) storm event below the new snow. Little wind effect.

Small loose dry observed on the upper 100ft of Lambslide, n aspect, 13K.
